17 Jun 2024
The CityLoops project has been nominated for a Saxion Research Award. CityLoops is one three research projects Saxion University, one of the project partners, has nominated for its annual award. To vote for CityLoops, click here. The deadline is 3 July. The winners will be announced on 4 July.
CityLoops is nominated for its work in Apeldoorn (the Netherlands) where Saxion University worked together with the Municipality to see how the renovation of a residential street could be more circular, thereby reducing its environmental impact. It is an example of how multidisciplinary, international research cooperation can contribute to Europe’s circular transition.
As a result of this work Apeldoorn gained a better understanding of circular construction. The demonstration actions related to the project helped the municipality to implement circularity in design and procurement processes. Apeldoorn is now facilitating multiple material depots, using asset management software, such as a project passport, and has adopted an online matching application.
Beyond circular construction, Apeldoorn also worked in CityLoops on valorising bio-waste. More information about its work can be found here.
